We are so sorry to miss the event but the sad death of my father-in-law early yesterday has brought us away from Stockholm on very short notice.
I have known Marc for almost forty years and have grown to the think of him as the brother I never had.
When Marc turned 30 years old, he celebrated with us in London as Catherine and I were married the day before. It was so considerate of Marc and Asa to reciprocate and host this party just 3 days after my 44th. Wednesday would have been better for me but I realize many of you have had far to travel and we wanted a good crowd. In terms of my birthday presents – I have asked Marc and Ǻsa to forward me everything on the gift table lacking a clear card identifying it for the bride and groom. Seriously – for me –having Marc married to Ǻsa is the best present I could have imagined.
My sons on the other hand have a different idea of presents. As we waited for the flight to Sweden just two days ago, the two boys dragged me into HMV to buy what I thought was yet another DS game, but to my surprise they went to the flight accessory section and selected a pair of deluxe ear plugs. A few of you may understand but for those who don’t – had I been with you today – I would have now presented them to Ǻsa. In case Marc hasn’t colleted them for you Ǻsa – I left them Friday morning at the reception desk at the Grand.
In early 2006, my sons and I took Marc to Grindewald skiing. Marc happens to be godfather to my second son William. We shared a tiny room. No one slept for three days except Marc who snored like a buzz saw. The boys have concluded that either Ǻsa is deaf or she must love Marc very much. Because we believe that romance is not dead – we have bought her the earplugs.
Other than his snoring it is hard to find too much wrong with Marc. He is a loyal friend who knows and walks his own path through life. He is a bit mischievous yet kind and generous. His sense of humour and good nature are clear to all. Yet the more I have thought about Marc and what to say today the more I think of the similarities he shares with his father Fred Maroon, a wonderful man who I am sure is sadly missed by all who knew him.
The parallels are numerous. Fred had a passion for photography and self employment. He often had a sparkle in his eye (which Marc also shares) which told the observer that here was a man who enjoyed life and enoyed laughing. Pardon the pun, but he saw life and others through a particular lens. A lens which the world would benefit from if more people could see through. Perhaps less metaphorically, another similarity is in Marc and Fred’s choice of wife. Both Suzy and Ǻsa are very attractive, younger, intelligent, European born women. I could stop here, but it is important to know - they both also have VERY very high standards which they expect to be achieved.
Marc, having known you this long – I fear you may slip on a few small occasions – but for the big ones you will not disappoint. Your heart will always be true – and I wish I were there with you right now to raise a glass and toast the bride and groom – to a joyous day and many more to come.

Marc & Asa'Joon,
Early congratulations and best wishes on your global matrimony! :-) This has been some kind of a journey, hasn't it? I am thrilled to be part of it and toast to the loveliest couple I know. Wish you a lifetime of pure joy, love, adventure (knowing you two, certainly guaranteed) and dreams fulfilled.
On another note, LOVE what you have done with the wedding site. It looks brilliant! See you in Stockholm! xoxo,
--Jaleh
