Old Town – Stockholm’s old town (Gamla Stan) is over 700 years old and possibly Europe’s most picturesque old town and best preserved medieval city. Gamla Stan is the home of the Royal Palace and has cobblestone alleys, beautiful houses, and an abundance of shops, restaurants, and cafés. It is easily visited on foot and a must see. The Royal Palace – The official residence of the Royal family was built in the 18th century, and is located in Old Town. The Palace is open for visitors and it contains many interesting things to see, such as the Royal Apartments, the Royal Armory, The Treasury, and the Changing of the Royal Guards. The City Hall – The City Hall is one of the best known landmarks in Stockholm with the three crowns on the top of the tower. This is the city’s administrative and representative center but more importantly hosts the world famous Nobel Price Banquet in the Blue Hall and Golden Hall on December 10th every year. Skansen – The world’s oldest open-air museum and a zoo in Stockholm, located on the island of Royal Djurgården. Here you can travel back in time discovering Sweden of yesteryear and see Nordic wild animals, such as moose, reindeer, bears, and wolfs. Gröna Lund Tivoli – An amusement park in the heart of Stockholm located on the island of Royal Djurgården. Östermalms Saluhall – All who love food of the finest ingredients will flock to this architectural food hall, which has been opened since 1888. It holds market stalls for shoppers as well as restaurants and cafés for tasters. It is within easy walking distance of downtown and in the upscale area of Östermalm. Södermalm – This is the southern part of Stockholm city and has a diverse blend of youthful, trendy, creative and often more bohemian fashion and design stores, plus a wealth of restaurants, bars, cafés, markets, and galleries. The main street is called Götgatan and leads to Medborgarplatsen (a city square) with lots of lively cafés and people. Close to Slussen there is the Katarina Lift, an elevator which takes you up about 40 meters above Slussen and that invites you to one of the best views of Stockholm.
